Portland Cello Project premiers the video for "Denmark"

Portland Cello Project followed up last year's amazing album, The Thao and Justin Power Session, with a powerful album of instrumentals titled Thousand Words. The song "Denmark" got treated to a very special video by director Daniel Fickle from Two Penguins Productions. The video, feeling very relevant to our current environmental problems, depicts a tiny shrimp attempting to escape from it's polluted environment. Easily one of the most heart-stirring music videos we've seen in a while, it's also a tribute to a friend of the band who struggled with cancer. In the coming months, the band is planning a fall tour of the US and begin working on a follow up to The Thao and Justin Power Session, with a very exciting collaborator that we can't quite announce yet!

Seattle and Chicago Happenings!

Big weekend for Riot Act artists... At Bumbershoot in Seattle, we have the seductively sly Black Whales performing on Sunday and on Monday, the cellos that play together and stay together, Portland Cello Project brings it's mammoth stage presence to the festival!  Also on Monday, Seattle's legendary, feisty redhead Rachel Flotard and co., aka Visqueen, return to Bumbershoot with the pure intention of melting faces.

Then, in Chicago, Stephen Howard brings his project Quieting Syrup to the Hideout on Sunday, 8/30.  Songs About A Sick Boy is out this month on Lovitt Records and, live, he'll be joined by the legendary Bob Weston!

CMJ Gets High On PCP!

That's right... CMJ loves a little hit of the Portland Cello Project and wrote a nice little story on their new album The Thao and Justin Power Sessions that comes out next Tuesday on Kill Rock Stars and their upcoming supporting tour.

The concerts are purposely suitable for all demographics: boogie-ing grannies, head nodding hipsters, budding middle-school musicians and everyone in between because bringing everyone together in a spirit of collaboration only adds to the philosophy of diversity that PCP proudly upholds.
