The Seattle quartet Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death is one of many Pacific Northwest bands currently featured on NPR's extensive mix of notable metal bands. "While the Pacific Northwest has always had a plethora of heavy-hitting musical options to plunder, there's a bit of a renaissance going on today, especially when it comes to doom, sludge and stoner metal. As the producer and host of Seek & Destroy, KEXP's hard-rock and metal show, I've tried to highlight some of the most promising bands from our region." Band Booking talks literature with Spencer Moody from Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death

Your band’s name was inspired by F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Beautiful and Damned — how did that come about? What first drew you to this book? Do you find Fitzgerald’s life and work more a source of inspiration or more of a cautionary tale?
I was drawn to this book by the title and figured I should try the fancy writers every one likes. I read [The] Great Gatsby after this and felt Damned was by far the better book. Let the rich have Fitzgerald as far as I’m concerned.

Stereogum shares a new track from Triumph Of Lethargy, Skinned Alive To Death – “Let’s Leave The Elephant In The Room”

"Some Of Us Are In This Together is one of my favorite album titles of 2011 — for nostalgic, depleted, pragmatic, hopeful, cynical, romantic, and otherwise reasons. Sonically, Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death’s sludgy, slow-mo, pained, elegiac, cathartic sixth proper LP isn’t too shabby either. As mentioned when we posted “Dirty Street,” it’s a bit like the Pacific Northwest back-patch punk take on Harvey Milk’s A Small Turn of Human Kindness. (Or, say, if Unwound decided to go glacial.) Take a listen to the noisy, raw “Let’s Leave The Elephant In The Room” homily if you need to shake the cobwebs this afternoon." Check the rest at Stereogum!

Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death Makes MAGNET A Mix Tape
"Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death is the longwinded name of the Seattle-based quartet comprised of Spencer Moody (Murder City Devils), Andrea Zollo (Pretty Girls Make Graves), Corey J. Brewer and Joel Cuplin. Besides its stellar lineup, this band will force you into a state of awe and utter respect between its drone-y, eerie sound and devil-may-care attitude (its catch phrase being, “We do what we want. We will never break up”). Oh, and this killer mix tape (check out the video playlist) the band members made for MAGNET helps, too. Newest LP,Some Of Us Are In This Together, is out now via Don’t Stop Believin’ Records." Head over to Magnet to check the amazing playlist... you're going to get an education with this one!

"Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death’s sixth proper LP Some Of Us Are In This Together is a sludgy, slow-mo, pained, ultimately transcendent collection." Brandon Stosuy, Stereogum

RCRD LBL PREMIERE: Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death - The Dirty Street

"Melodic, mournful and supremely talented at making songs, Triumph Of Lethargy Skinned Alive To Death is the brainchild of two veterans who have yet to take a musical misstep. Spencer Moody ofMurder City Devils and arresting live show fame pairs with former Pretty Girls Make Gravesfrontwoman Andrea Zollo for a track that is as much lo-fi meets folk punk as it is half-drunken, heartbroken and wise. And we're definitely talking brilliant, sad-drunk here, as when Moody enters into his "when you lose your love" chant and you get chills (you will). "The Dirty Street" is from the group's upcoming full length Some Of Us Are In This Together, out January 18 on Don't Stop Believin'. A record release show kicks off a small west coast tour in February, a list of full dates for which can be found here." Shannon Hassett, RCRD LBL
