Diffuser names The Ampersands' "Try This" as one of the best DLs of 2012!

"Sure, the opening chords of ‘Try This,’ the first single off the Ampersands’ 'This Is Your Adventure Too!!' album, sound like the like a preset option on a Casio keyboard – but that sure doesn't last long. Brooklyn Based Calls The Ampersands New Album "Exquisite."

"With a combination of energetic catchy melodic rock and sophisticated lyrics, The Ampersands have a sound that is reminiscent of Big Star, the Posies and many other power pop bands past and present. However, The Ampersands’ co-founder, Aaron McQuade, says the influences of the group–which includes him and Jim Pace–dates back even further before those aforementioned bands." FINGERTIPS LOVES THE AMPERSANDS!!

"The sing-songy, Nintendo-y keyboard riff that opens things up is no mistake—it is based, says the group, on a mis-memory of an old video game musical theme (Munchlax’s Berry Bonanza, if you must know, which is a mini-game within the Pokemon universe). And the song indeed seems at one level to be about playing video games." Listen now on Fingertips Music.
