Pure Bathing Culture Interviewed On Bowlegs Music!
"When Pure Bathing Culture, aka Sarah Versprille and Daniel Hindman, decided to pack up their things and move from Brooklyn to Portland, it was in the hope that they could start taking their musical output to the next level. Well they did – big time. Firstly Richard Swift invited them to record their self-titled EP at his studio – and then Sean Pecknold signs up to film their new video. We caught up with Sarah to talk about their shimmering melodies, their 80s influence and of course their band name." Read the full interview now on Bowlegs Music.

"Sean Pecknold directs the touching, beautifully shot official video for Pure Bathing Culture’s “Ivory Coast,” in which hologram sharks come for a heartbroken Sarah Versprille’s little blue alien love baby, I think. NPR's Got Pure Bathing Culture's "Lucky One" On Heavy Rotation!
"When Sarah Versprille and Dan Hindman relocated to Portland last year, it was in part to record with Oregon producer Richard Swift. The result was the four-song EP, Pure Bathing Culture. The pair's first live shows around Portland created no small amount of buzz here. The band has since expanded to a quartet, while they work on their first full-length record. Infused with breezy vocals and ringing guitar lines that make it a very tasty summertime listen, the song is making quite an impression on our listeners." Listen here.

32 FT PER SECOND DISCUSSES PURE BATHING CULTURE'S "SILVER SHORE'S LAKE"
"Pure Bathing Culture, a wonderful band who make wonderful music, have little to do with Vernon's choices, other than the fact that their latest song, "Silver's Shore Lake" shares a certain aesthetic sensibility with "Beth/Rest". Its echoes are glossy and the style is from more than two decades in the past. But, like "Beth/Rest", "Silver's Shore Lake" possesses song-writing of a quality to render some of these questions of derivation completely irrelevant. When the singer pleads, "I wish my heart was deep enough, so deep that I could keep you, love" the debate of acceptable use of the 1980s becomes asinine and you'll wish your heart was a little deeper too." Read on and listen at 32 FT Per Second.

CONGRATS TO PURE BATHING CULTURE ON BEING WILLAMETTE WEEK'S #2 BEST NEW BAND!!!
"There’s lots of space on Pure Bathing Culture’s self-titled debut EP, a record with obvious parallels to dream-poppy Baltimore duo Beach House. “Lucky One” has Versprille’s ephemeral vocals floating through subtly hypnotic, bloopy drums. Layers of guitar and vocals give “Ivory Coast,” a song the band says is about being obsessed with your muse, uncanny depth. “Silver Shore’s Lake” has a touch of Simply Red-style ’80s blue-eyed soul under layered electro haze. So far, Pure Bathing Culture has played only eight shows, the first in January at Doug Fir Lounge, and yet it has enough buzz to land on this list." Keep reading over on Willamette Week.

Download Pure Bathing Culture's "Ivory Coast" On Mix Tape Muse.
"The sun peers from behind departing rain clouds, and the chill fades. A veil of light falls gracefully down upon the shadows of the storm, returning a sense of comfort to the world. Darkness cracks under the force of it all, and now everything feels undeniably blissful. It comes across as a rather cathartic experience, and that pretty much captures the essence of Pure Bathing Culture's "Ivory Coast." With its glistening reverb and echo of '80s pop, it's pleasant and oh so charming." Read the rest and download "Ivory Coast" here.
