Wooden Wand Gets Literary With Vol.1 Brooklyn!
"James Jackson Toth plays taut, haunted music with folk roots and a darkness all its own. Most of his work has been released under the name Wooden Wand; most recently, his album Briarwood got the deluxe reissue treatment from Fire Records. And it turns out that the guy’s a prodigious reader, able to smartly discuss musical histories and work from Barry Hannah and William Gass in equal measure." Continue reading on Vol.1 Brooklyn.

Wooden Wand's James Jackson Toth Talks With Tiny Mix Tapes.
"At this point in his musically inclined career, you could probably build a small brick and mortar building devoted entirely to the catalog of James Jackson Toth. With nearly 100 releases to his name (and varied pseudonyms), Toth is one of the more prolific musicians of the last two decades. He’s recorded and released hours of solo material under his own name (as well as WAND and Wooden Wand), but he’s also played with countless bands and groups over the years and recorded and released nearly all of it." Magnet Q&A With Wooden Wand's James Jackson Toth
We should talk about the new record that’s coming out. That should be the focus. [Laughs] That’s seems to be a big part of the problem, spreading myself too thin and people don’t know. It’s weird, because I get accused of being too prolific, but if you pay attention it’s the one’s with the barcodes that you can get on Amazon that are the ones you review, the ones you pay attention to. The ones that come out on tape labels in Belgium, they’re not for everybody, because by the time people go looking for them they’re out of print or maybe never came out at all. There’s people more prolific than me. Jesus, how many records did Thelonius Monk put out in a year? Continue on for the rest of Toth's Interview on Magnet right here.
